    Hello Jorge,
You'll be disappointed about the feedback. But there are not so many rally enthusiasts in this forum, who only nearly have such a knowledge in the history of rallying like you have.

So it's not very much, I can help you. I have no result lists of this time, only articles from the former German magazin 'Sportfahrer', which normally have listed the first 3 in the class.

In 1976 in the text they refer to different teams for 8th and 10th position

    They note:
    1. Darniche/Pitz
    2. Blomqvist/Sylvan
    3. Jaroszewicz/Zyskowski
    4. Lundgren/Johansson
    5. Hermann/Hübinger
    6. Brusch/Petan
    7. Berth/Richardt
    8. Schnoor/Liske
    9. Glad/Nedergard
    10. Helle/Hansen

I did not find a reference to Peter Hermann, but when my rememberence is still working, he had a Group 2-Ascona. Codriver had been Konrad Schmidt, later the well-known owner of Schmidt Motorsport. About Martin Maas I have no knowledge.

    1978:
    1. Mortensen/Petersen, Triumph TR7, Gr. 4
    2. Fritzinger/Wanger, Toyota, Gr.2
    3. Svanholt/Svanholt, Porsche , Gr.4
    4. Petersen/Bockelmann, Porsche, Gr.4
    5. Laubjerg/Rasmussen, Vauxhall, Gr.4
    6. Brusch/Koldewei, Opel Kadett, Gr.2
    7. Herrmann/Schwägerl, VW Golf, Gr.1
    8. Knollmann/Hopfe, Audi 80, Gr.2
    9. Schnoor/Liske, BMW 2002, Gr.2
    10. Stöben/Kremeskötter, Ford Escort, Gr.1

    1979:
Michael Werner had a Group 1-Escort.

  • Hi Jorally,
I talked to Martin Maas and he told me that the first name of the Codriver from Johannes Schnoor is Günther. (Günther Schwarz)

Martin also told me that he finished the class 1977 with his BMW 2002 at 1st and 9th in the overall ranking.

In 1976 Martin was Codriver from Hansi Möller BMW 1602. Result?

For what chronic do you need this kind of information?

  • Hi Fellorock !

First of all my deeply thanks for your help !
Those results are for a database concerning the European Rally Championship that I've been doing for a very long time.

Regarding Mr. Martin did he run in group 2 in 1977 ?
And don't He have documents regarding 1976 and 1977 he could shared like for instance some entry lists and complete final results ?

    Thanks in advance
    Best regards from Portugal

    Hi Jorge,
at this time (1975) we know 5 groups:
Group 1: Series Production Touring Cars
Equivalent to current Group N, these were regular four-seated, unmodified production cars with minimum of 5000 units built annually.

    Group 2: Special Touring Cars
Equivalent to current Group A, these were regular production cars modified for rally use. Minimum annual production was 1000 units. When Group 1 cars were modified, they became Group 2 cars.

Group 3: Series Production Grand Touring Cars
Grand touring (GT) or sports cars with minimum of 1000 units built annually. Preparation according to obligatory manufacturer homologation, minimal modifications only.

Group 4: Special Grand Touring Cars
Sport cars modified for rally use, minimum of 500 units built annually. When Group 3 cars were modified, they became Group 4 cars.

Group 5 and 6: Prototype cars
Extrapolated freely from unmarketed prototypes, no minimum production requirements.

So at this competition the organizer of the Sachs-Rally Baltic did 2 groups together for one group-result.
Gr.1 and Gr.3 cars in one group-valuation (series production) and Gr.2 and Gr.4 cars into another group-valuation (modified special cars).
So I give you the group-valuation results for series production cars (Gr.1+Gr.3).
    1. Reiner Altenheimer/Hanno Menne Porsche Carrere RS Gr. 3
    Team: Vergölst-Reifen-Service, Bad Nauheim
    2. Rolf Petersen/Hans-Jürgen Wachholz Porsche 911 SC Gr. 3
    3. Morten Spiro/Else Yde (DK) Mazda RX3 Gr.3
    4. Freddy Kottulinsky/Dieter Grimkowski VW Golf 1600 Gr. 1
    Team: Formel-V-Europa, Hannover
    5. Josef Tröndle/Christian Geistdörfer BMW 2002 TII Gr.1
    AC Bavaria, München
    6. Harri Venske/Manfred Haase BMW 2002 TII Gr. 1
    7. Mogens Johansen/Peter Juul (DK) Mazda RX2 Gr. 3
    8. Johannes Schnoor/Jürgen Drews VW Golf 1600 Gr.1
    9. Hans Dänisch/Jürgen Finzel BMW 2002 TII Gr.1
    10. Sten Öhlenschlaeger/Svend Hansen (DK) Mazda RX2 Gr.3

I'm sorry, I don't have the final times and also not the overall position.

    1. Walter Smolej/Willi Peter Pitz - Opel Ascona Gr. 2
    Team. Irmscher-Tuning, Winnenden
    2. Reiner Altenheimer/Hanno Menne Porsche Carrere RS Gr. 3
    3. Andrezej Jaroszewicz/Ryszard Zyskowski (Poland) Fiat Abarth 124 Gr. 4

    6. Roger Ericson/Bruno Berglund (Sweden) Volvo 142 Gr. 2
    7. Hans-J. P. Herrmann/Konrad Schmidt Opel Ascona 19 Gr. 2
    Team: Matter-Überrollbügel, Karlsdorf
