Thibaud:
The „Aisttal“ stage is the great final every year. This stage is very demanding for the drivers, especially last year with the fog. For the spectators it is not the most beautiful stage, but there is no alternative, expect you go to the finish ceremony in Freistadt a bit earlier.
The best place (in my opinion) for spectators is the hairpin near Pehersdorf about 3 kilometers before finish. You reach this place via Schönau and the route of stage “Schönau – St. Leonhard” which is driven on Friday evening. Then walk down the hill to the hairpin. There will be a lot of spectators, so prepare to walk a bit.
The first two junctions of the start after start are easy to reach (via Tragwein) and look not bad. I’ve never been there, this year I’ll try this place.
The points near Erdleiten are also easy to reach (via Bad Zell). I’ve seen this place in 2004 with lots of snow, that was also not bad. Here you have 3 curves to choose, the first one is a 90° junction, the next two are wider, but with snow they will be good to see. The hairpin in the forest after Erdleiten is also very wide, only good on snow and you do not see the cars long.
One time I’ve also been to the 90°-right junction near Hinterberg (before the stage reaches Erdleiten). Here you see a long straight before the junction, but I didn’t like that place, just a junction like thousand others.
I hope I could help you!
See you on January 6th in Pierbach at stage 1
